Effect of Various Cations and Anions on the Reduction of Molybdenum (VI) at D.M.E. and its Determination in their Presence

چکیده

In earlier publication1, the authors have reported data on the polarographic behaviour of molybdenum(VI) in three different organic acid media viz. mandelic acid, succinic acid and formic acid — sodium formate and concluded that in medium comprised of 0.1 M mandelic acid, 0.005% thymol and 0.1% camphor Mo(VI) produces a well defined irreversible diffusion controlled doublet wave, the total height of which varies linearly with Mo(VI) concentration. In view of the difficulties associated with the polarographic determination of Mo(VI) because of the lack of appropriate supporting electrolytes in which the waves are well formed with diffusion current proportional to concentration and due to the occurrence of analytically useful wave in mandelic acid medium it was considered worthwhile to investigate the effect of the presence of various cations and anions on the Mo(VI) wave and the possibility of its determination in their presence. The present communication, therefore, describes data on the effect of the presence of Ni2®, Co2®, W O42®, VO30, Cr20 72©, Mn2®, Te042e, Fe3®, Ti2®, C104®, N 03®, on the wave produced by molybdenum(VI).

A sensitive method for electrochemical determination of molybdenum (VI) in plant foodstuff samples using Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 nanocomposite modified carbon paste electrode

In the present study, a new chemically modified carbon paste electrode (CPE) is constructed for rapid, accurate, simple, highly sensitive, and selective determination of Mo (VI) using differential pulse voltammetry. The electrode was prepared using magnetic nickel zinc ferrite nanocomposite (Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4), as the modifier in CPE (Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4/CPE). Mo (VI) was determined after preconcentr...

Extractive Differential Pulse Polarography of Mo (VI) Oxinate in Chloroform and its Application in the Determination of Molybdenum in Steel

The voltammetric characteristics of Mo (VI) oxinate at the mercury electrode, in the presence of tri-butylammonium perchlorate (tri-BAP) and piperidinium perchlorate (PP) + piperidine (P) as  two different types supporting electrolytes, have been studied in chloroform. With the both supporting electrolytes a two electron irreversible process for the reduction  of Mo (VI) oxinate was observe...

Kinetic-Spectrophotometric Determination of Track Amounts of Nitrite Ion Based on Its Reduction Reaction with Thionine in Acidic Media

A simple, sensitive and rapid method for determination of trace amounts of nitrite ion in real samples is reported. The reaction is initiated by adding known volumes of a nitrite ion solution of identified concentration to acidic solutions of thionine which causes decolorizaiton of reagent with time. The absorbance changes is then monitored spectrophotometrically at l...

Fabrication of an Electrochemical Sensor Based on a New Nano-ion Imprinted Polymer for Highly Selective and Sensitive Determination of Molybdate

In this work a new chemically modified carbon paste electrode was constructed for accurate, simple, sensitive and selective determination of molybdenum (VI) ions. The results of modified electrode by an ion imprinted polymer were compared with those obtained with carbon paste electrode. The results showed the stripping peak currents had a dramatic increase at the modified electrode. Under the o...

Utilization of Cloud-Point Preconcentration for Spectrophotometric Determination of Trace Amounts of Molybdenum(VI) in Plants and Water Samples

A cloud-point preconcentration process using micelle of the non-ionic surfactant Triton X-114 to extract Mo(VI) from aqueous solutions was investigated. The method is based on the color reaction of molybdenum with 5-(2-benzothiazolyl-azo)8-hydroxy-quinoline (BTAHQ) in the presence of potassium bromide at pH 1.75 glycine/HCl buffer media and micelle-mediated extraction of complex. The optimal ex...
